Giggles Before Sunrise: Naomi & Lachlan

A diary entry from our team at Elope Australia

Some mornings out here are cold. This one was something else entirely.

We were up long before the sun for Naomi and Lachlan’s sunrise elopement, and the second we stepped outside, it hit us, brisk doesn’t quite cover it. It felt like minus three degrees, the kind of cold that wakes you up faster than any coffee could. But none of that mattered once Naomi arrived, because she was an absolute giggling mess of joy from the very first moment, and out on the sand dune, with nothing around to block the sound, you could hear her laughter carrying for what felt like a mile.

We started with a first look under the old Tom’s Bar, flicking the lights on just enough to see the two of them share their first quiet moment together. Then we headed up onto the sand dune, still in pitch darkness, phone torches lighting the way. Once we reached the top, everything went silent. No talking, nothing but crickets and the wind moving through the trees. And then, slowly, the sky began to change — soft light spilling across the horizon in this incredible wash of colour, almost like a rainbow settling over the desert.

We captured some beautiful photos of them in that light before stepping back to let them have their own private moment, wrapped up together, just the two of them. Then it was straight into the ceremony. Naomi and Lachlan shared the most heartfelt vows, along with a few gorgeous keepsake memories with one another, all witnessed by family who had flown in especially for the occasion — every single one of them rugged up in coats against the cold, but not missing a second of it.

Afterwards, we headed down for a well-earned breakfast, the hot coffee flowed and warm damper hit the spot. It was exactly what you want after a freezing sunrise ceremony. Naomi shared a first dance with her gorgeous dad which followed by some beautiful group photos to round out the morning. From there, Naomi and Lachlan carried on making the most of the red centre, with plenty more adventures still ahead of them.

A genuinely unforgettable morning, giggles, frost and all.

Congratulations, Naomi and Lachlan.

- Shalea, MARRIED AT Portsea Hotel

We had our micro wedding of 40 people through Elope Australia and it was the best decision we could have made! The photographer Brenna, videographer Tea and celebrant Maree all had the most amazing and beautiful energy that made us feel so comfortable.

A highlight of our day is going to get our couples photos taken because it felt so special! The flowers were absolutely stunning and the cake was delicious! Overall I would recommend anyone wanting a less stressful wedding experience should definitely use Elope Australia!
