Eleven Weddings, One Unforgettable Week: Our Yulara Wrap-Up

A diary entry from our team at Elope Australia

And just like that, it’s over.

We travelled to Yulara as a team of eight – celebrant, photographer, videographer, content creator, musician, and our support and admin crew – not entirely knowing what the week ahead would throw at us. What we came away with was, without question, the most epic week we’ve had to date in the centre of Australia.

Eleven couples. Eleven completely different love stories. Red sand under our feet from sunrise until well after dark, day after day, and every single one of those couples trusted us with one of the biggest moments of their lives. We still can’t quite believe it all happened in one week.

What struck us most was how these couples came together – from all over Australia, even from the other side of the world, all landing in the middle of the desert in the very same week, purely by chance (well to be fair Kate managed to align them all in the one epic week). Paramedics and police officers, truck drivers, young families on road trips, big loud crowds and quiet intimate mornings, sunrise vows and sunset ones, camels and helicopters, freezing cold mornings and golden warm afternoons. Every celebration was vastly different from the one before it, and yet each one felt just as special, just as meaningful, as the last.

If we’re being honest – we were exhausted. This week asked a lot of our bodies. Early starts, long days, not much sleep, and constant movement between locations, but the team handled it with an ease we’re genuinely proud of. It takes an enormous amount of planning and coordination to run eleven weddings back to back in one of the most remote, beautiful places in the country, and to have every single couple walk away with the celebration they dreamed of is something we don’t take lightly.

To every couple who let us be part of your day this week – thank you. We will never forget this one. Red centre, red sand, red-eyed and exhausted, and completely worth every second of it.
